Constructing Fear is a documentary about the Australian Government’s extraordinary and concerted attack on one group of its citizens.
In October 2005 an industry watchdog was established with powers which remove the basic civil rights of building workers. The aim was to frighten them out of being active members of their union. This is the story of what happened next.
"People in a democracy should feel free to stand up for themselves, to speak out, and if necessary to act to improve their society. These rights have been taken away from building workers in Australia. Many are understandably intimidated, and despite feeling unjustly treated would not appear in the film.
